Before joining Nationwide, I worked at a mortgage brokers who used to pass business on to various banks and building societies including Nationwide.

That was nearly 20 years ago, and I still believe Nationwide is a great place to work. What’s more, I think the reasons I made the move still hold true today: as a business, we represent great customer service and offer a fantastic range of well-priced products.

Many of my job’s highlights relate to the branch itself and team’s successes. It’s a great feeling to hit targets and be rewarded for it both in terms of bonus and congratulations from your colleagues. Nationwide celebrates success at every opportunity and that really spurs you on.

The most important and enjoyable part of my job is definitely the customer interaction. You need to be a real ‘people person’ in this role. The team I work with have also contributed hugely to my success. They’re all highly motivated and serious about their work but they also like to have fun.

I’ve also enjoyed the challenge - and rewards - of individual targets. They’ve enabled me to manage my own business and steer my own success. I’m now at the top of the pay scale for my role, but the recently revised bonus structure has increased my income greatly.
