Business Analyst

Every organisation relies on data. The more accurate and insightful that data is, the better decisions that business can make – and the more value they can add. Nationwide is no exception.

Our Business Analyst programme covers three main areas: Distribution Planning & Research, Customer Operations Business Planning, and Savings Insight. The first, Distribution Planning & Research, analyses our level of customer service, identifies sales opportunities and helps to reduce costs. This includes everything from building new reports in order to measure the performance across distribution channels, to shaping product design and forecasting the future capacity of our branch network.

The second, Customer Operations Business Planning, forecasts future personnel resource needs, tracks resource performance and produces management information. Supporting daily operations and longer-term planning, this team also analyses data and provides insight to senior managers to improve customer service and cost efficiency.

The third team, Savings Insight, is a key source of information on the Nationwide Savings book. They produce regular management information on the book’s performance, handle ad hoc data requests and build models that enable us to monitor trading performance, all of which support key business decisions.

Graduates

The Business Analyst programme will enable you to work in a variety of roles, on a variety of projects. All of which will see you immersed in data. The trick will be for you to use the information on the countless transactions that take place every day to provide us with insights that drive the business forward and create real value.

During the programme you’ll have four placements in a combination of the four analytical departments outlined above. These placements may involve working on large scale projects, or on ad hoc enquiries e.g. in our distribution planning and research team you could be calculating the effect our new IT system and its improved processes will have on our channel capacity; or you could be looking at a request for the number and makeup of ATM transactions for another team. You will also complete non-project work and influence multi-million pound decisions by supporting daily operations and long-term planning with our Customer Operations team.

Not only will these placements enable you to gain a thorough understanding of our business-specific data, management information sources and analytical tools, but they’ll give you the opportunity to establish links across the organisation and build your business acumen.
