General Leadership programme
This brand new two-year programme is designed to build future business leaders, delivering the skills, experiences and knowledge required to influence the direction of the organisation in the years to come.
A series of diverse placements in a variety of business areas offer a comprehensive first hand view of how different parts of the business work together, providing a deeper insight and greater personal development for the select members of the programme than any other.
Joining the programme, you’ll get exposure to crucial parts of the organisation, being involved in anything from evaluating the effectiveness of business controls, to identifying potential lending and business risks; from working with our liquidity portfolio to continue to safeguard our customer’s deposits, to project managing part of our multi-million pound investment programmes and enabling us to transform the way we work. You could contribute to managing Nationwide’s external reputation; lead various business projects, participate in the delivery of the HR people strategy, or even help define our view on the economy and interest rates. One placement will involve managing a team in a customer-facing environment, either in a branch; in one of our contact centres; working with our internet and ATM teams or in customer operations, giving you an understanding of how our decisions directly affect the customer. We’ll also provide opportunities for applying and developing your skills externally too, delivering positive social and environmental projects as part of our Corporate Citizenship commitments.
The programme will not only provide you with a broad commercial understanding, but also the leadership & personal awareness training, senior management support, networking opportunities and openings to put your new skills into practice and move the business forward. These experiences will drive and accelerate your performance not just across the two-year programme but across your future career. And whichever route you take, you’ll work on a variety of projects and business initiatives, taking on meaningful responsibility and putting your newly acquired skills to work from day one. Just as importantly, we’ll aim to support you with studying for an IFS School of Finance professional qualification.
Requirements
To join, you’ll need a 2:1 degree or above in any discipline and 260 UCAS points (excluding General Studies) or the equivalent.
