Working here
It’s not easy to know whether you’ll really enjoy a job until you’re doing it. But if you like helping people, and think you’d thrive in a busy, fast-paced, team-oriented environment, then we’re confident you’ll get a lot out of working for us. And here are a few more reasons why there’s a lot to look forward to.A mutual society
As a modern mutual building society we have no shareholders to please. Instead Nationwide is owned by and run for the benefit of our customers – or members. So we really can devote all our energies to looking after their interests. There’s a lot of job satisfaction in knowing you’re working to make them better off, not to put money in the pockets of an anonymous big business.
A real feeling of PRIDE
Our PRIDE values mean we’re all working to the same high standards, within a culture that encourages and rewards individual achievement. You’ll be recognised for a job well done, whether through a simple ‘thank you’ or a generous bonus.
Great expectations
We have big ambitions. We’re always aiming to make our business better so our members benefit from the products and services they expect from us. That means hiring good people and giving them all the support and encouragement they need to develop. If you’re ambitious too, you’ll be in the right place.
Be seen and heard
Developing and growing the business isn’t just down to our most senior people. We’re well aware that anyone at Nationwide can have a good idea that will make a difference how we operate. So we make sure that all our people have a say in how we do things and are recognised for their contributions. Our Brainwaves employee suggestion scheme is evidence of this. Through it, employees can put forward their ideas on how to improve the business. We now get up to 400 suggestions a month and if we use an idea, the person who has forwarded it receives 10% of the cost savings or income generated (up to £10,000) in the first 12 months of it being implemented.
