What attracted you to Nationwide?
What attracted me was a few years ago I worked as a temp in Nationwide House and I really enjoyed it then. My mum works at Nationwide as well and she really enjoys it.
Why did you choose to join your business area?
I chose to join my business area because I wanted a more challenging job role and I wanted to have face-to-face contact with customers.
How do you see your future at Nationwide?
I plan to work at Nationwide long term. I’d like in the near future to become a Customer Consultant.
What do you love most about your job?
What I love most about my job is the people I work with, definitely.
What is your working environment like?
My working environment is fast paced, well organised, sale-targeted and it’s really friendly.
What is the social life like at Nationwide?
The social life’s really good, we go out and do a lot of team things. Not so long ago we had a fancy dress party to welcome all the Portman people in from the merger, and I went as bumble bee, it was cool.
What would you say to someone who wanted to apply for your job?
If someone wanted to apply for my job, I’d say go for it definitely – it’s a really cool job to do.
Has working at Nationwide turned out as you expected, and if not, how has it differed?
Working at Nationwide has been better than I expected. I thought it would be really strict and regimented but it’s not. Although we have sale targets, we do it in a cool way, like we have star charts.

I chose an apple because I thought, inside the apple there’s seeds and every time I serve a customer I think hopefully the seeds will turn into sales.
