Siobhan Enwright
Sales Adviser

You can read the transcript of the video below:

Why did you choose to join your business area?
I didn’t choose to join my business area, it actually chose me. I’d never done any selling before. I had the interview – really enjoyed it and by the time I got back to the job I was working in, I’d been given a phone call to say I’d been offered the job. It’s something I’ve never regretted and I've never looked back on.

Can you describe what your area of the business does?
I work in telephone channels, dealing basically with mortgages and all the insurances that are attached to it, so a customer will call in, we will deal with all their mortgage requirements and try and help them with their protection needs as well, so basically a selling job on the phone.

How long have you been in your current role?
I have been working for Nationwide nine years in April. The best thing I ever did and it’s the quickest nine years I’ve ever had in my whole life – it’s fabulous.

How do you see your future at Nationwide?
My future at Nationwide is pretty much as it is at the moment. There’s plenty of scope for improving yourself, going up the ladder, becoming a manager – all those things are there in place, but I love what I’m doing, I wouldn’t change what I’m doing, I’m good at what I’m doing, so I’m happy with what I’m doing.

What support and training have you had since joining?
The support mechanism and the training mechanism is second to none. I have been given the opportunity to go on management courses but as much as I enjoy them I’m happy with what I’m doing. But if you want to move along within Nationwide, there’s enough support from the managers, senior managers, everybody there is to help, and the training, as I said, is second to none.

What is your working environment like?
Our working environment is pretty special. I’ve never come across it anywhere before. The buzz and excitement as soon as you walk into the office at the beginning of the day is fantastic and it’s there all day. We work in teams so we are a pretty close-knit family as far as our teams are concerned, but as an actual department we all have a good time as well. We try and get out as often as possible, we have monthly competitions, we dress up for competitions like special football days, St Patrick’s day – that type of thing. It’s a really good environment to work in, it’s pretty special.

Has working at Nationwide turned out as you expected, and if not, how has it differed?
Working at Nationwide is better than I expected. To be honest I didn’t know what to expect as I’d never worked in a sales environment before, but I think I’ve found my job after working many years in lots of other types of jobs. It’s a fantastic place to work and I wouldn’t want to change it for all the world.

My PRIDE item
The object I brought with me today to represent PRIDE is a plaque I received from Graham Beale last year at a Super Stars award. I came top within telephone channels as a Sales Adviser.
