Business Analyst

Join our Business Analyst Programme and what you provide to the business will have a major impact on the wider organisation.

    • Completing analysis used directly by senior management
    • Analysis of large datasets to identify trends
    • Incorporating analysis into the wider business picture
    • Analysing and understanding the product mix and needs of our customers
    • Making recommendations for future business strategy
    • Shaping our product design
    • Influencing the shape of our branch network and other channels

    The Business Analyst Programme is specifically designed to provide work of both breadth and depth. You will contribute to projects/Divisions with real business impact and work with a truly diverse spread of internal clients from different divisions.

    You will:

    • Work with people from a range of levels including Director level
    • Need to liaise across the business in areas such as; customer relationship management, branch network, telephone and internet channels, IT and finance; in order to gain business understanding and awareness to inform your analysis

    As well as having a mentor (a senior manager within the company) to provide you guidance and support in developing your career, you will also have a buddy to provide you with more informal advice along the way.

    About the Business Analyst Programme

    Our programme will enable you to gain a thorough understanding of our business specific data, management information sources and analytical tools. You will have 4 x 6 month placements across divisions within various analytical teams. As an analyst, you will work as a group wide resource for the business analyst community (for example in Group Distribution, Specialist Lending, Products, Customer Marketing, Member Accounts Administration, etc.)

    As well as giving you an opportunity to establish links across the business, you will be able to quickly build on your business acumen and wider knowledge of Nationwide and the wider financial industry.

    The key placements will be in the following centres of excellence in data analysis:

    • Business Planning & Research, Group Distribution
    • Sales Operations, Group Distribution
    • One of our Products areas: Savings, Mortgages or Current accounts
    • Specialist Lending

    When you join us, you'll have an induction to Nationwide, and our overall aims and ethos. You will also have a local induction and introduction to the team at the start of each placement.

    Where will you be based?

    You will need to be fully mobile throughout the two years of the programme, as you change placements every six months.

    What we are looking for?

    We are looking for individuals with the following qualities/experiences:

    • High degrees of numerical and deductive capability, normally associated with mathematical or physics degrees (min. 2.1)
    • Advanced IT skills with major Microsoft products, specialist statistical and data mining tools, relational databases, demographic tools
    • Good communication skills to ensure that the complex data is meaningfully presented
    • A high level of attention to detail enabling the production of reports and analyses with a high level of accuracy
