Marketing

    About us
Marketing in financial services is big business. Every year the sector spends a massive £1.5bn, making it the biggest spending category in the UK. At Nationwide Marketing isn’t about keeping up with the competition, as a building society we’re owned by our members and marketing supports the organisation in putting customers at the heart of everything we do.

All in all over 300 people work in our Marketing department. The department is made up of four areas: Customer Strategy, Brand Strategy, Product Marketing and Group Customer Experience, all based in our Swindon Head Office. It’s a fast-paced environment and we love what we do - where else could you produce TV ads, work with the England FA and make pricing decisions that could affect millions of members?

    Insider view
Director of Marketing James Boulton says: “We believe that people are more interested than ever to hear about a financial services provider that doesn’t have shareholders and that really can put customers first. At this important point in time, the organisation is looking to Marketing to help define what we stand for and bring this to life through our brand, product and customer strategy.”

    Your development
As a graduate entrant you will be provided with a structured approach to your development, spending 4x6 month placements across the Marketing Department. The teams in Marketing are very diverse so expect to learn a lot in a short period of time and expect to get stuck in right away – six months will fly by! You will also have the chance to spend a short period of time outside of Marketing to broaden your understanding of the business.

Each placement will be chosen by the department’s senior management to ensure it’s right for your development. A previous graduate entrant will act as your “buddy” and a senior manager from the business will act as your mentor. We will support you to study for a Chartered Institute of Marketing qualification. All other training requirements that are individual to your needs will be arranged with your line manager.

    What we’re looking for
We are looking for individuals who have achieved or expect to achieve a 2:1 degree class and at least 260 UCAS points (excluding General Studies). There are no specific degree requirements but you will need to demonstrate a passion for Marketing and:

    • the ability to manage and influence many stakeholders both internal and external
    • the ability to respond to a fast-paced and constantly changing environment with tight deadlines
    • have a head for the commercial side of marketing
    • be creative and be able to translate ideas in to action
    • the ability and drive to improve the way things are done

If you feel that you are up for the challenge, we would be very interested in hearing from you.
