I worked at another building society before I came to Nationwide. It was the excellent career opportunities and promise of quick progression that inspired me to make the move. If you work hard and show you want to be at the top of your game, you can really get on here.
As a manager here, I have much more freedom to try new ideas and incentives to motivate my team and get them working to their highest potential. But, of course, with more freedom comes greater responsibility. And it’s very much down to me to ensure my branch hits its daily targets.
The things I love most about my job are the excellent team spirit, the fantastic people I work with and the recognition I get for my personal successes. Equally, I like to recognise the achievements of my own team. As well as training, supporting and developing them, I get enormous pleasure out of congratulating the team and each individual on their successes.
Determination. Commitment. And always kick-starting the day with an energising morning meeting. These are the things that underpin the success of my branch. And we certainly reap the rewards. Being part of a successful team has ensured that my basic salary is always topped up with an excellent quarterly bonus.
The one thing I’d say to anyone thinking of joining Nationwide is that no two days will ever be the same. So get ready to encounter lots of exciting new challenges in an ever-changing environment.
