Tuan Le
Project Manager
You can read the transcript of the video below:
Why did you choose to join your business area?
I chose to join Change Management just because Nationwide’s a large organisation and I wanted to understand it all before I made any long-term career moves, so I’ve chosen a part of the business that gets me out in front of other parts of the business as well so I can gain that understanding.
Can you describe what your business area does?
Change Management is a department that deals with corporate change so we run a whole portfolio of projects to get the business from A to B really.
How long have you been in your current role?
I’ve been in my current role for 15 months as a Project Manager, prior to that I’d spent eight years in the front line in the branch network as a Financial Consultant, that type of thing so, 10 years in total.
How do you see your future at Nationwide?
I see my future at Nationwide being at Nationwide. In terms of what I’d be doing and where I’d be doing it within the business, I don’t know. I think the beauty of this organisation is that you can move from one part to the next.
What is your working environment like?
I think my working environment’s great! I think physically I have the tools I need, the equipment I need to get the job done. I think from a people point of view, I work with a great bunch of people, and I think that’s what’s quite nice about Nationwide.
What would you say to someone who wanted to apply for your job?
I’d say to somebody who wanted to apply for my job as a Project Manager - to understand the organisation, to take the time to do that, to make sure that it fits with them actually, in terms of what they want and the type of person they are. The other thing I’d say is providing you work hard, providing you pull your weight, you’ll get the recognition you deserve.
My PRIDE item
This is my friend, he doesn’t have a name, but he’s been with me for the last 10 years and so he sits wherever I sit. And for me I think, it’s just a symbolism of the fact that I like to try and work hard and play hard at the same time, so enjoy what you do.
