Business Protection

    What we do

Business Protection provides the expertise, support and operations that enable Nationwide to:

    • achieve its key strategic aims
    • protect the business and its customers from exposure to fraud and information security risks
    • meet its regulatory requirements, including ‘Treating Customers Fairly’

It’s our job to manage the increasing expectation of the regulators, industry bodies and financial services industry, particularly the FSA, Information Commissioner, VISA and CIFAS.

Our high-quality, consistent, timely advice covers current and emerging threats and regulatory issues that affect the Group.

We also work with our Regional Brands – like The Mortgage Works – to put appropriate working practices into action.

The roles we recruit for most often

    Compliance

    • Senior Compliance - You will be involved in the provision of a variety of regulatory guidance or assurance activity to the business. This might involve commenting on conduct of business, checking that advertising material meets regulatory standards or carrying out planned Compliance reviews.
    • Junior Compliance Manager - As well as organising the way we offer advice and overseeing reviews, you could find yourself making sure our business processes operate effectively and conform to regulatory requirements.

    Fraud

    • Fraud Consultant - You’d review the effectiveness of our fraud detection systems and recommend improvements, while also analysing fraud trends and representing Nationwide at industry forums.
    • Team Manager - You’ll make sure your team is well-managed, well-motivated and always ready to respond to changing work volumes. You’ll need a good aptitude for technology, forecasting and capacity modelling, plus the communication skills to work closely with internal and external customers.
    • Fraud Analyst - Handling large amounts of complex information at a time. Carrying out detailed investigations. Dealing with numerous queries. They’re all key responsibilities. And they call for excellent time management and organisational skills plus plenty of flexibility and self-motivation.

    Information Security

    • Information Security Manager - Responsible for the day to day management of risk, you’ll work with key people around the business on challenging control issues. You’ll boost the success of your team by managing performance, prioritising workloads and planning effectively.
    • Senior Consultant - You’ll work on complex projects, offering advice, making recommendations and keeping our operational needs front of mind. As well as excellent communication, influencing and relationship-building skills, you’ll need the ability to analyse control issues, and identify and agree practical control solutions.
    • Business Analyst - You’ll work in a high pressure environment, handle a wide range of tasks and be fundamental to the smooth running of our business. Excellent PC skills, accuracy and an eye for detail are all vital. If you’re adaptable and motivated, love teamwork and have loads of determination, you’ll thrive.
