The roles we recruit for most often

Accountant roles

Bring us an ACA, CIMA or ACCA qualification plus relevant post-qualification experience and you’ll have a key role, a large amount of autonomy over your own workload and, possibly, people management responsibilities. Your work will vary depending on your area but it’s likely to involve analysis, contact with senior people and conveying complex ideas in a straightforward, commercially focused way.

Technician roles

Technicians support the Accountants and may be studying towards a qualification. Although workloads are largely set by the Accountants, you’ll still need to manage your own time and use your initiative. Activities vary but are likely to involve analysis, problem solving and working to tight deadlines.

Your career prospects

In a word – excellent. A professional qualification will help you progress from Technician to Accountant, and our best accountants can progress to the highest salary bands. There’s a similar range of roles and grades for non-accountants.

Our diverse activities plus continual change in business focus generate a lot of internal movement as well as secondment opportunities. We monitor the progress of people through succession planning and have a strong track record of promoting from within.

We support you to gain accountancy qualifications – among the most highly regarded business qualifications there are. They’ve already helped many to progress within Nationwide, including our current Chief Executive, Finance Director and many of the Divisional Directors.
