Not everyone with a Nationwide mortgage has bought it direct from us. Many customers benefit from our products and services by going through a mortgage broker, or intermediary. Already we’re a major player in the intermediary market.
- We rank third in terms of intermediary usage
- Around 60% of our gross lending is through intermediaries.
What’s more, it’s a market we’re investing in heavily.
We’re building a new field-based sales force to forge broader, deeper relationships with intermediaries based on real points of difference.
For example, Nationwide is widely seen as the ‘Consumer’s Champion’ and in the uncertain times ahead this can only add credibility to an intermediary’s recommendations. Equally, our recent merger with the Portman Building Society, plus our commitment to mutuality, will generate even better designed and more competitively priced products that intermediaries will want to sell to their clients.
Critically, we’ll reinforce the hard work of the field-based sales force with first-class sales support and operations teams based in our Bournemouth Centre.
We’re also investing heavily in our e-services team who are determined to deliver a ‘best in class’ service that includes –
- better electronic trading capabilities
- greater score card flexibility
- streamlined admin using the latest imaging and workflow technologies.
The roles we recruit for most often
We are always interested to hear from individuals with the determination and drive to achieve outstanding business results and provide excellent customer service to join our broker development sales force.
We also need Head Office based Sales Support Advisers to spot new business opportunities for the sales team to follow up. You’d do everything from evaluating the performance of intermediaries and analysing Management Information to managing diaries.
We have a number of roles in our E-Trading team, including Team Leaders, Analysts, Support Advisers and Project Managers.
Bournemouth is the 'regional office' for Prime Intermediary Lending and Specialist Lending so you’ll have many opportunities to move onwards and upwards across both. Join us as a Sales Support Adviser for instance, and you could progress to a similar role in Specialist Lending at the same level, or become a Business Development Adviser within Prime Intermediary Lending.
If you’re ready to be mobile, you may well be able to move into roles at our Swindon or Northampton Head Offices.
If you know the intermediary marketplace and understand its regulations (like MCoB and ICoB for instance), that’s ideal. If you have a Level 3 CEMAP qualification or are willing to study for one, even better. Equally important though are certain key qualities:
- A flair for detail
- The ability to analyse data and spot trends and opportunities
- A methodical and proactive approach
- A positive attitude and effective communication skills
- Plenty of self-motivation and initiative
- The ability to plan, manage your time and handle several jobs at once.
Join us in a support or operational role and you’d work in our Bournemouth Centre. If you’re in sales, you’d be based in the field.
