Jobs in Information Management

You get to make your mark.
We take an exciting next step.

There's never been a better time to join the Information Management team at Nationwide. A constantly shifting regulatory landscape poses a whole host of challenges. And our response to them is every bit as exciting as we develop and expand our IM team.

Nationwide has a commitment to getting things right first time, this reflects in its approach to looking after customers and providing the right kind of products and services. The way it takes care of its Data and Information is no different. An increase in regulator activities across the whole financial services sector and a growing insatiable appetite to use its ever growing data assets internally to support its operations is driving further growth within the Group's Information Management Competency Centre. Sometimes called Business Intelligence, Data Management and Management Information, Nationwide are looking to recruit in a variety of areas so if you have experience and want to develop your career in this area we want to hear from you.

We're looking for high performing, numerate, analytical individuals to join us in a wide range of vacancies. Naturally, the degree of experience and technical knowledge required will vary from role to role but wherever you join us, we'll expect you to show exceptional communication skills and an ability to translate complex technical concepts to a broad range of audiences. You'll bring with you a degree-level education, relevant experience, and an unshakeable commitment to quality.

We are also interested in hearing from Project/Programme Management professionals who are experienced in delivering systems related projects within the management information, data management and business intelligence space, as we look to deliver the necessary change programme and build the in-house project knowledge required to allow our Information Management department to continually improve.

Senior Data Management Consultant – SAS
Swindon Head Office
£ 40,721 - £ 52,032

At Nationwide, we have invested heavily in our SAS capabilities and infrastructure with the delivery of a new UNIX/AIX SAS GRID environment in 2015. As a data team, we have been at the heart of this project to utilise the metadata tools to the maximum.

We have already been preparing for our new environment and all of the benefits of the BI platform to deliver data that is accurate, high quality and timely. You’ll be key to shaping the changes which will affect regulatory, analytical and operational data that is utilised across Nationwide.

This means that we are starting the migration of Base SAS scripts to be implemented within SAS Data Integration Studio along with server side scheduling. To do this, the team is expanding to support on-going technical development to drive improvements to the Data Mart.

In addition to this, we have been a victim of our own success and now have internal customers from across the Society whose decisions depend on the data we provide to them. This means that we are at the forefront of new project data deliverables for the Retail portfolio with continuous change required to be made to our processes.

Not only does this role set out the future of our SAS capabilities for data management, the role will give our current team managers a deputy within their team and give employees a clear career path from Analyst to Senior Manager.

Senior Data Management Consultant – SAS/SQL Data Quality and Reconciliation
Swindon Head Office
£ 40,721 - £ 52,032

How good is our data? Come and find out! Then better it; if you can.

As part of the society’s Information Management Department, you’ll play a key role in developing and maintaining the data quality and reconciliation reporting capability. Specifically, as part of a team that focuses on data accuracy and completeness ensuring the Business is fully confident in the data we provide. Ideally, have exposure to Information Management including requirements gathering, data management, data integration, storage, reporting and analytic tools.

This exciting new role will focus on supporting the business as usual activity along with assisting delivery of Nationwide’s transformation projects. You will reconcile data from a number of distinct sources to meet our own data standards providing confidence to the Business about the data they use for reporting, analytics and modelling.

Your work will be split between a technical one either from utilising your SAS or SQL skills and that of a data management role where your reconciliation and data quality experience will be used to the full in providing understanding of the data used across the Business.

You’ll have the chance to share your knowledge with a wider team and ensure that data is valued as an asset.. Your work will mainly focus on assuring the data that the wider team works with is accurate; you’ll be working with a range of data from retail to commercial.

This role will give our current team manager a deputy within their team and give employees a clear career path from Analyst to Senior Manager; data usage at Nationwide is growing and so is the team. As a senior team member, you’ll be expected to deputise for the manager in their absence by supporting strategic thinking, solving problems and developing team priorities.
