Of all the English counties, Northamptonshire is arguably the one that offers something for everyone. With bustling towns and beautiful villages surrounded by stunning countryside, all linked to the rest of the country by an exceptional transport infrastructure, there’s plenty to see and do, whatever pace of life you prefer.
All of the county’s main towns offer a great choice of cinemas, pubs, clubs, restaurants and high street shopping. There is also plenty on offer for people in search of the good life and no shortage of inspiration to be found in the numerous local farmers markets that are held in villages across the county. In fact the biggest market square in England is to be found in Northampton.
And if you’re a sports fan you’ll have plenty to shout about. Not only is it the home of Northampton Saints rugby club, but there’s everything else from football and cricket to golf, sailing and Formula 1, all within easy reach.
If you’re moving here from outside the county you’ll be pleased to hear that house prices are just below the national average – and almost half the average for London. There’s also plenty of choice of property types, from traditional town houses to modern barn conversions. And when it comes to education, Northamptonshire doesn’t come up short, offering private and state sector schools, well-respected adult education centres and a wide range of higher education courses at the University of Northampton.
