About Nationwide

About Nationwide

If you're thinking of applying...

...we should introduce ourselves.

We're the world's largest building society as well as one of the UK's largest savings providers and a top-three provider of mortgages in the UK. We're also a major provider of current accounts, credit cards, ISAs and personal loans.

Unlike banks, we're owned by our members. We're here to help them make the most of their money so that they can achieve what they want in life. And we do that by bringing them together, because together we can achieve things we can't achieve alone. With around 15 million members, we have a relationship with almost a quarter of the UK population.

Where it all started

Back in 1846, when ordinary workers had to pool their resources in order to buy a home. Helping each other out to achieve their dreams. Jo Bell captures it perfectly in this tv ad.

Our values make us stand out

When you work here, you're part of a collective. Part of an organisation that's dedicated to its members; a mutual.

We ask our colleagues to bring out the best in each other, to create a place where our own differences are treasured, so that we can do our very best for our members.

Together, we are building a stronger, kinder and greener society for our mutual benefit and the mutual good of all.

  • We believe everyone should have a place fit to call home. Based on feedback from members, we're finding local solutions to national housing issues by working with members and colleagues to make a long-lasting difference to their communities.
  • And, because we each have a charity or good cause close to our hearts, at Nationwide you'll have the opportunity to volunteer for two working days to support them.
  • Over the past eight years we’ve achieved a lot to become a more sustainable and responsible business. In April 2020, we reached a huge milestone. Now, 100% of our business operations are carbon neutral. But we won’t stop there. We want to make sure our suppliers and your commuting to work are also carbon neutral by 2030 too.

What is PRIDE?

We introduced PRIDE in 2002 to sum up what Nationwide's all about, and for the last 15 years it has been our bedrock and the foundation of 'how we do things around here'.

PRIDE guides our decision-making, keeps us on the right track, inspires us to do the right thing and motivates us to go a little further.

It is our collective DNA and new comers to Nationwide are often surprised that decisions, large and small, are measured using our PRIDE values.
