Commercial Lending

It's a big operation, with a loan book in excess of £22 billion supporting property businesses in the UK. We help these businesses buy and invest in offices, industrial, leisure, retail and social housing properties.

Our Commercial Division is an integral part of the world's largest building society.

What we do and how we do it

Typically our loans start at c.£1m but these often grow in line with the businesses to fund their expanding portfolio - in some instances beyond £100m. To achieve our goals over time, we're looking for people who can build strong working relationships. We need to know and understand our customers, and our team are proud to be consistently acknowledged as a market leader in our industry because of the customer service we provide.

How you can make a difference

We have a strong identity and it does feel like a family (a big one at nearly 200 strong). However your voice can still be heard, and you can still enjoy personal accountability.

Working with us, you'll have a significant part to play, from analysing and assessing our new & existing loan commitments, to acquiring specialist knowledge to understand our chosen markets fully. You'll always make sure everything we do is in line with best in class customer service and most importantly,  ensure the way we do it conveys our values as a mutual.

We like to think that we offer a great environment to work in and a real career, supporting you with first class training and opportunity to advance along a "ladder" stretching to many senior roles.

In recent years the difficult economic backdropmay have made our roles more challenging, but in many ways even more engaging, as you truly understand that as an individual youcan make a real difference.

We often deal in big numbers; detail and complexity, so we have to get things right and you'll  ensure our processes are as efficient and effective as possible.

Our lending decisions aren't taken by credit scoring; fundamentally they're made by the quality of your understanding, analysis and proposal.
