Financial Controls & Information Management
As a division, we're responsible for Nationwide’s operational finance activities, priding ourselves on preserving trust in the integrity of Nationwide’s financial outputs and controls, as well as enabling financial insight and critical decision making on behalf of the wider business.
Whether we are supporting the growing information management agenda, embedding financial controls, managing operational finance services or leading in-team transformation, we have a passion to steer Nationwide Finance to be the Exemplar Finance function within UK retail banking.
We’re split into five teams, each of which has a wide range of responsibilities, providing the people who work in our division with a variety of opportunities to grow and develop their career.

Who we’re looking for
While financial services experience is a benefit, we consider applicants from a variety of backgrounds as an enquiring mind, a desire to do the right thing and excellent communication skills are what counts.

Depending on the role, you may possess or be progressing towards a relevant professional qualification. You'll be familiar with finance processes and concepts, having perhaps worked within or closely with, a Finance division before. Individuals within FC&IM today have a range of experience including audit, finance, business partnering, operational risk, project management and risk management.
Finance Central Services
We deliver critical operational processes for the whole of Nationwide and our colleagues across Group Finance. We support transactional finance activities such as purchase order to invoice payment, employee expenses and reconciliations. In addition, we support financial management activities as we own Finance’s accounting, reporting, forecasting and compliance activities.
We’re a diverse team, providing the opportunity to gain real insight into the heart of Nationwide finance, for seasoned finance professionals, studiers, as well as those starting out in their career. Strategy, Performance & Change
We're change champions within Finance, leading on projects and programmes designed to enhance our processes, systems and people organisation. We're driving forward a number of Finance initiated improvement programmes, as well as managing inbound change projects from the wider organisation on behalf of Finance, co-ordinating key activities through the project life cycle. In addition, we support core Finance systems, endeavouring to improve the user experience, as well as managing key relationships with IT.
We have a number of different skillsets within the team from experienced programme and IT managers, to lean process experts as well as finance professionals with a passion for change. We're driven to improve divisional enablement, creating measurable step change in Finance’s operational capacity.
Our purpose is to ensure the integrity of external financial, regulatory reporting and key internal reporting. Our reports are subject to a robust, well governed and fully documented control environment to support key decision making. To support the business we train, educate and perform testing to ensure our controls are adequately designed and operating effectively to protect the Society’s brand and reputation.
Our roles range from trainee accountants and process experts who perform essential testing and reporting alongside achieving recognised external qualifications, through to Senior Managers with a wealth of risk and control experience.
Governance Risk and Control
We’re responsible for ensuring risk is managed consistently across the Finance, Compliance and Internal Audit functions. This involves identifying and reporting critical risks, as well as monitoring Divisional compliance to the Enterprise Risk Management Framework. We also work to ensure that where incidents occur, the reasons are fully understood, issues are addressed and corrective action is taken. Our people stay close to the finance operations, and look at what we do through a risk lens.
