Branch careers, Nationwide
There are always things that some people will prefer to do in one of our branches, whether it’s speaking to a consultant about a product, opening a new account or resolving an issue.
That's just one of the reasons why we're investing over £500 million into adapting our branch network over the next five years.
What roles are available?
It's all about teamwork at Nationwide. And nowhere more so than in our branch network. People here constantly refer customers to each other, lend support wherever it's needed and work together to make sure customers get the products and services they need.

Our Customer Representatives offer customers great service while making sure we meet their financial needs in the most appropriate way.
You'll welcome customers into the branch, deal with all their day-to-day needs through identifying what's right for the customer. You might be greeting people as they come in, manning the counters, or be behind the desk showing customers the different ways we can help them.
As your experience grows, so will your responsibilities. Before long, you'll be opening accounts and delivering the right service and product for the customer.
A warm, lively personality, a flair for detail and a real way with people are all vital. A customer service background would be a big plus.
As the first person our customers meet when they come into a branch, you'll deal with customer enquiries and identify customer needs, referring them on to our Customer Account Managers, Mortgage Consultants or Financial Planning Managers where appropriate.
Taking the initiative will be second nature to you as you speed up queues, handle some of the more complex enquiries yourself and deliver excellent customer service - always adhering to risk and compliance. And, of course, you'll love meeting and getting to know people.
You'll meet with customers to work out their exact mortgage needs and how we can best meet them. While mortgages will be your specialty, you'll also advise on everything from credit cards to insurance policies.
You'll need to be CeMap qualified, and a background in financial services is a definite plus. You'll also need highly-developed customer service skills and plenty of self-motivation.
When you take charge of one of our branches, you take responsibility for everything: leading people, driving the right culture to fulfill our customer needs, meeting standards, auditing our performance against FSA regulations - and, of course, keeping customers happy.
That means being out in the banking hall, leading by example as much as you can - not shut away in your office. It also means thinking ahead; succession planning, analysing branch activity to spot business development opportunities, introducing productive initiatives - all will be down to you.
Senior Branch Manager
Reporting to the Area Director and acting as a role model for the Branch Managers in your Area, you'll drive the performance of one of our flagship branches.
That means leading your team to maximise customer opportunities by ensuring the highest standards of service. You'll cut an inspirational figure in the banking hall, making sure everything runs smoothly while working with your Customer Service Managers to coach your team and enhance the customer experience.
You'll also control risk within the branch and make sure it complies with all quality and regulatory guidelines. All that on top of planning ahead, spotting opportunities for potential, and developing a long-term branch strategy.
Personal Banking Manager
You'll sit down with customers, identify their needs and either match them to the right product or refer them on to a colleague. So you can help customers choose what's right for them, you'll develop a thorough understanding of everything from credit cards and loans to savings accounts and insurance.
You'll also help coach Customer Representatives on how to meet the needs of the customers and follow in your footsteps.
You might have already proved your worth in identifying the needs of the customer, and you'll need sound PC skills and plenty of motivation. Just as important are your people skills and ability to build long-term relationships with your customers.
Customer Service Manager
A flexible, versatile, multi-tasker who knows how to get the best out of people, you'll make sure your branch provides an excellent customer experience while maintaining strict quality and compliance standards. That means training your team thoroughly - showing them how best to handle queries and identify customer needs, and keeping their product knowledge up to date.
At the same time, you'll support the Branch Manager by doing your bit to help customers in the banking hall, planning activities to drive an excellent customer focused team and making sure we're always staffed up to cover busy periods. On top of all that, you'll make sure your team works efficiently in line with FSA regulations and our 'Treating Customer Fairly' principles.
Financial Planning Manager
We pride ourselves on putting our customers first. We're looking for the best, qualified Financial Planning Managers to ensure that we continue to deliver the sort of service our customers have come to expect.
As a Financial Planning Manager, you've an unrivalled base to build on. Not only do you have an outstanding product portfolio, but our one tier team means there are very few limits on the clients you deal with.
As you'll be based in one of our branches, you'll get to work closely with your colleagues - identifying customers' needs and offering honest, tailored advice that will help you forge long-term relationships.
