Bringing the best to our people
Why you should choose Nationwide
Develop your skills in attracting, growing and deploying talent across the business.
Technology plays an important role in meeting our member’s needs, whether it be through making it easy for them to manage their money, or simply being always on 24/7, 365 days a year. For us, to consistently deliver first in class service we need to attract and grow the best possible tech talent.
There are over 3,000 people working on the delivery of multiple projects at any one time. This year, we plan to spend an investment of £540m to enable us to accelerate the introduction of new products and services, deliver the simplification of our IT infrastructure and develop innovative new technology. We’re no strangers to innovation having been the first in the UK to launch an internet bank, joint first with Apple pay and have Cisco leading-edge technology in our branches. This, coupled, with our advancements in agile ways of working and refreshed change delivery operating model, makes it a very exciting time to start working at Nationwide.

Why you should choose our HR programme
Based in the heart of our IT Early Careers team you will be involved in providing Nationwide employees and external organisations with easy access to information on Early Technology Careers. You’ll support the attraction, development, and deployment of tech talent across all of our communities – whether it be Engineering, Data & Analytics, Security or IT Operations. Our Early Careers team not only provide learning and development for our tech talent, but also work with external organisations to encourage career changers, under privileged groups in society, graduates and apprentices to consider a career in IT at Nationwide.
Grow, learn and develop
In addition to playing an active part of the team, you will embark on a tailored and insightful development journey, offered exclusively to our Emerging Talent.
As you learn more about successfully delivering tech talent across the Society, you will be awarded more responsibility and have the opportunity to hone your teamworking and leadership skills. This scheme will arm you with essential skills to fast-track your career – business acumen, decision making, commercial and strategic awareness and building lasting, effective relationships. If you already have any experience within people services, that’s a bonus. You’ll get the chance to experience a broad set of skills across different roles before specialising in the one that’s right for you.
What you'll be doing
From day one, you’ll be involved with talent development people initiatives that focus on offering our tech talent a rich learning experience and will set them up for a career in IT. In essence this role requires you to help us co-ordinate and manage a wide range of people related activities, underpinned by maintenance of our systems, data, processes and communications.
