We have an opportunity for a placement student to work as a Risk Analyst in our established Retail Modelling team. The team's been awarded the “Best Use of Technology” in the 2019 Credit Strategy Awards and shortlisted for the “Data Science Technology Innovators of the Year” at the 2019 DataSci Awards!

As a Risk Analyst, with the support of your line manager, you'll be supporting projects relating to the ongoing development, maintenance and monitoring of Credit Risk models across all our Retail Lending portfolios.

As well as traditional model development techniques, including regression modelling, using cutting-edge Machine Learning techniques also features in our modelling tool kit.

This role will build on your STEM degree and help you to develop your technical and business skills.

What you'll be doing

Your work will be varied and technically demanding, and you could be working on your own or as part of a wider team. Under the guidance of your manager and team you’ll help to:

• Write and run code in SAS to produce the data we need (we’ll teach you this part)
• Understand the data and identify key insights, monitor model performance and present the findings to others
• Support the development of models, employing relevant statistical techniques to validate and enhance the risk models
• Build relationships with team members and across the business to ensure insight is shared and models are understood.

You'll gain a thorough understanding of all things Risk and insight into the mathematics and techniques used by us, the world's largest Building Society.
