A taster in Tech

Is a tech career right for you?

With StarTech, you can give technology training a try if you are thinking of returning to work (or alongside your current role) before you make the leap into a future career in tech. We’ll take you on a 12-week part-time tour of technologies to help you make an informed choice.

What's involved?

In the first week, join your StarTech colleagues for three days of learning in our tech hub and in week two immerse yourself in our hub for a further two days. In weeks 3-12, there’ll be weekly virtual learning sessions as well as a coaching call with the instructor and a task partner. It all concludes with a graduation event with senior leaders from across Nationwide. StarTech is completely free training, you just need to commit your time for the duration of the programme. If you choose to follow a career in technology we can accelerate you into our full time, paid TDP programme.

What could you learn?

We’ll help you develop your core skills in coding and testing practices, how to use collaboration tools such as Trello and Slack, how to manage code under version control using Git or even start coding with JavaScript, HTML and CSS. You’ll receive tuition on responsive User Interface (UI) design and how to set up a server. Take a deep dive into data and experience how to ask data questions using Python. And if you still have the energy how about writing a full stack API?

P.S. It's totally OK if you have no idea what any of that means right now. That's what StarTech is all about.
