Introduction

We need:
• A Head of Supplier Management to join our Collections and Recoveries team
• Flexible location with regular travel across the UK and significant time required in Northampton (2-3 days)
• Level 3 Senior Executive role
• This is a permanent opportunity working 35 hours per week

We have a rare opportunity to join our Collections and Recoveries Senior Management Team within the Relationships and Distribution Community as a Head of Supplier Management. This role will lead the Collections and Recoveries Supplier Management function by developing, leading and implementing our third-party supplier and extended operations strategy.

The Head of Supplier Management will be accountable for all Collections and Recoveries outsourced operations, managing c30 suppliers including DCA’s, solicitors, BPO’s, systems suppliers and other third parties with a focus on conduct, regulatory and operational risk.

Who we're looking for

You will have:
• Significant executive management experience of Collections and Recoveries operations within the financial service sector and be recognised as an expert within the industry
• Proven relationship management skills in dealing with external parties and third-party management
• Strong business acumen, with a deep understanding of the Collections and Recoveries industry, preferably with a relevant professional qualification
• Experience of operating and presenting at Board level, across diverse groups and in the external markets
• Ability to create a high-performance culture that drives improvement and employee satisfaction
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and influencing skills supported by a sound commercial and organisational awareness
• A range of influencing skills to adapt to the audience and situation
• A background of delivering improvements across a multi-discipline operation
• Conceptual thinking supported by the ability to utilise models, theories and analytical skills
• The ability to drive innovation at all levels that fosters an environment of idea generation to improve the business model
• Strong sponsorship of strategic change and clear understanding of the attributes of a sponsor and good project management
• Excellent understanding of regulatory requirements, downstream and horizon risk

What you'll be doing

ln this senior role you’ll lead the development and implementation of the Collections and Recoveries external operations strategy to commercially manage our suppliers whilst ensuring regulatory compliance. In the role, you’ll;

• Be the Operational Relationship Owner of Collections and Recoveries’ external supply chain and third-party relationships, managing the performance of outsourced services
• Represent Nationwide’s strategic, operational, regulatory and commercial interests at a detailed level escalating issues and putting forward solutions and proposals to the Nominated SRO as appropriate
• Continually review the Collections and Recoveries’ placement strategy and supplier panel design to ensure we continue to fully leverage supplier capability to optimise Nationwide debt recovery on a ‘net back’ basis
• Be accountable for supplier adherence to all Nationwide policies and external regulatory requirements (MCOB, CONC, OFCOM and CCA) through effective oversight
• Ensure appropriate conduct quality controls are in place across the supplier panel and are well balanced with commercial objectives, ensuring fair member outcomes
• Drive the performance of all Nationwide’s pre and post default Collections and Recoveries suppliers across Unsecured and Secured portfolios through effective management and oversight of its panel
• Be accountable for following agreed frameworks and seeking relevant stakeholder approvals for all Nationwide mortgage repossessions, and resultant property sales via third parties
• Manage the performance of Collections and Recoveries’ extended ‘Business Process Outsource’ operations
• Manage our relationships with industry regulators and undertake an industry liaison role with the likes of the Money Advice Trust, Money Advice Service, debt charities and government agencies
• Work with relevant senior stakeholders to obtain appropriate approvals, execute Collections and Recoveries’ debt sale programme through selection and oversight of purchasers, pricing and commercial aspects, and operational transition of debts purchased
• Deputise for the Head of Collections and Recoveries, acting within agreed delegated authority and mandates and escalating decisions and issues as appropriate
