• Enterprise Risk Framework Manager (Risk Manager Lead) in our head offices in Swindon
• £50,840 - £73,436 a year (depending on skills and experience) + company car cash allowance
• Permanent full-time contract (flexible working will be considered)

Proactive, insightful and credible – are these words that describe you? Then this could be your perfect role. We are looking for a Risk Manager Lead to join the Framework team within Risk Strategy, a part of the Nationwide Risk Community.

The Risk Strategy team forms part of our second line of defence and is a key area in setting and enabling risk management capabilities across the Society.

The Framework team within Risk Strategy is responsible for designing, documenting, communicating and implementing the Society wide approach to risk management encompassing how Risk Appetite and Policy are set through to how the Society understands and assesses its key risks and critical controls. This is vital to ensure that Nationwide takes the right decisions to achieves its strategic ambitions, and does the right thing for our members - they’re everything to us.

Who will you be working with

We are a dynamic multi-disciplined team of eight risk management professionals operating from Swindon head office, working together through an agile/scrum delivery methodology.

This role will provide the successful candidate an opportunity to be part of this close-knit team working on a variety of risk management framework elements with stakeholders from across our business.

Who we're looking for

As a minimum requirement you’ll have or be:

  • Qualified (e.g. IRM) risk professional and/or have considerable experience in Risk Management roles within the financial sector (ideally first or second line roles)
  • An excellent communicator with the ability to influence across all levels
  • The ability to approach complex problems, delivering appropriate solutions that meet the needs of our members, the Society and regulatory requirements
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to adapt and foster relationships across a wide range of communities and technical areas
  • Resilient to the ever changing demands of the business and the economic environment in which we operate

It would be nice, but not essential, if you also had experience of:

  • Operating within a programme structure or with project management disciplines – especially agile/scrum environments
  • Creating and delivering engaging risk management training
  • Industry standard GRC Tooling solutions

What you'll be doing

It's an exciting time to be part of Risk Strategy, with the enhancement of the Risk Management at Nationwide Framework nearing a crucial point by being enabled by a new Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC) Tooling platform being delivered by the wider team in partnership with the Society’s risk teams. This is where you come in.

You will work with the team of risk professionals who maintain and strive to continuously improve Nationwide’s Risk Management Framework, and associated components, ensuring it enables more effective and efficient risk management processes and informed decision making.

You will be responsible for delivering a series of high-profile component enhancements contributing to the overall successful delivery of Nationwide’s risk management capability.

As a Risk Manager Lead within Risk Strategy you will be responsible for working with the Society’s risk teams (1st, 2nd and 3rd line), across all risk categories to deliver high quality solutions (frameworks and processes) that enable risk management to be operated seamlessly throughout the Society.
