A fantastic opportunity has become available as a Risk Analyst in our established Retail Decision Modelling team, a team which won the 2019 Credit Strategy Award for “Best Use of Technology” and the 2019 SAS Special Project Award, as well as being finalists in the Credit Strategy Award “Credit Modelling & Risk Team of the Year” and the European Data Science Award “Best Use of Technology” categories!

The role involves supporting the decisions made across our key lending products, helping to continuously improve our decision tools that enable the business to make better decisions for our members.

As a Risk Analyst, with the support of a Risk Manager, you will be responsible for supporting projects relating to the ongoing development, maintenance and monitoring of Credit Risk decision models across multiple cycles (Application, Behavioural and Collections), and Affordability solutions across all our Retail lending portfolios. As well as traditional model development techniques, including regression modelling, use of cutting-edge Machine Learning techniques will also feature within model development and maintenance.   

This role is suitable for graduates looking to apply their learnings from their degree within a practical environment.  

  • Salary of £25,421 - £33,895, plus benefits on a permanent basis

Who we're looking for

To be successful in this role you will:

• Have a strong quantitative degree ideally from a Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Financial or related subject or relevant demonstrable experience 

• Enjoy working with data, carrying out analytics, interpreting results and making recommendations.

• Have a logical and analytical mind with a passion for solving complex problems to a high standard.

• Have experience of presenting / explaining your findings to others both verbally and through a written report.

• Have experience of building relationships and communicating with confidence whilst also working well on your own initiative.

• Demonstrate a strong aptitude for programming and coding tools such as SAS / R / Python (experience is preferable but not required as training will be provided).


What you'll be doing

Under the guidance of your line manager you’ll help to:

• Write and run code in SAS to produce the data we need (we’ll teach you this part).

• Understand the data and identify key insights, monitor model performance and present the findings to others.

• Support the development of scorecards and models, employing relevant statistical techniques to validate and enhance the risk models

• Build relationship with team members and across the business to ensure insight is shared and models are understood.

Your work will be varied and technically demanding, and you could be working on your own or as part of a wider team.
