We need:
• Team Manager based in Optimus, Swindon
• 12 month Secondment

Payments plays a critical part across the organisation in providing members with the best, seamless end to end experience through their interactions with Nationwide.

Within Payments Processing we focus on: the delivery of processing requests; meeting service level agreements; providing excellent customer satisfaction; budget management; operating within risk appetite and responding to changes to industry and scheme regulations.
As an Operations Team Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring key performance indicators are achieved including service level agreements and quality standards. You will inspire, motivate, coach and develop your team to achieve outstanding performance through your leadership and demonstration of the Society’s core values. You will optimise resources to provide a compliant, cost effective service focused on meeting our member needs.

As a minimum requirement you’ll have:
• Natural leadership skills with the ability to confidently and effectively influence at all levels.
• The ability to motivate and inspire people to achieve their full potential.
• The skills to be a proactive coach, identifying individual needs and the ability to address these both formally and informally, supporting your team to develop the right skills and behaviours.
• Strong time management and workload prioritisation skills.
• The ability to challenge the status quo amongst your peer group and upwards in a professional manner.
• An aptitude for planning and forecasting.
• An understanding of risk and controls management.
• Commercial awareness and business acumen.
It would be nice if you also had:
• Experience of operational management in a customer/ administrative service environment.
• Analytical ability that allows options to be addressed and recommendations to be made.
• Knowledge of the Payments area, although not essential.

What you'll be doing

What you'll be doing:

As an Operations Team Manager you will:
• Manage, develop and coach team members to enable them to operate to their full potential through effective 1-1’s and coaching.
• Monitor MI and Dashboards with a customer lens to ensure team key performance indicators are achieved, including agreed service levels and quality standards.
• Deliver regular, consistent and appropriate communication that ensures teams are kept fully informed.
• Manage stakeholders that are important to your team and department.
• Deliver optimum performance utilising the best operating model and tools available.
• Effectively use planning and forecasting tools to allocate appropriate resource and workload against critical processes.
• Establish and maintain a relevant succession plan ensuring continuous growth in talent.
• Monitor and implement (where appropriate) effective internal controls to ensure risks are mitigated and compliance to regulation and scheme is maintained.
• Manage conduct and capability issues in a timely manner.
• Ensure change is effectively delivered into your team whilst acting as an advocate of the department strategy.
• Develop creative solutions that enable informed decisions to be made that will be viable for the business.
