  • Salary up to £50k per year (dependent on skills and experience), based on a permanent, 35 hour week, contract.

This role is a fantastic opportunity to help shape and form the development of a new function within the Security community at Nationwide. Working in our Strategy, Planning and Business Management team, the Consultant will be key to helping run a successful Security community. The role will be responsible making and driving improvements to the management processes across Security, assisting work on the Security Operating Model, and working with all the teams across the Security function to improve Security’s ways of working.

Who we're looking for

We're looking for a highly motivated self-starter who is ambitious, energetic and change-oriented who has experience of working within a dynamic environment in the Financial Sector. Someone who is tenacious, appreciates a challenge, and works well in a team.

As a minimum requirement you will have:

  • Experience of Information Security and a willingness to continually learn about the subject
  • An interest in future innovations and technologies related to Security
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills and an ability to work with multiple stakeholders within Security, and across various business areas.
  • Excellent presentation and documentation skills.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills
  • Excellent analytical skills and an aptitude for taking ownership of problems and solving them
  • Excellent knowledge and experience of working within a change environment
  • Experience of identifying improvements and implementing them
  • Previous involvement in formulating business plans
  • Knowledge of working in an agile environment
  • Business process improvement skills

It would be nice if you also had:

  • Experience or knowledge of the existing management systems and processes in Nationwide.
  • A good understanding of the Security teams and various business areas within Nationwide management.
  • Experience of working within a change environment
  • Experience of working on a target operating model
  • Experience of working within an agile environment
  • Experience of the execution and implementation of strategies.

What you'll be doing

The role includes having responsibility for:

  • identifying, managing and delivering process improvement opportunities
  • administering our security management systems such as resource and demand management
  • leading on cross Security team activities
  • supporting work on the Security Operating Model and Business plan
  • leading on activities regarding the implementation of the Security People Strategy
  • representing the team within Security
  • representing Security at cross community forums

We want someone who will excel when working in a fast paced environment, who will be responsible for maintaining high standards of operational output. You’ll also be an advocate and ambassador for Security, and want to have a positive impact on the Security operation.
