Nationwide employs a mix of bespoke-developed and commercial off the shelf solutions to deliver its ‘core systems’ capability, but the landscape has evolved organically, and needs to be simplified and standardised to support business growth and service efficiency, and to reduce technical debt.With the recently announced £4.1bn investment in IT and change over five years, we are moving at pace to consolidate and transform our IT estate, introduce secure cloud solutions, and simplify our infrastructure topology to a set of best-of-breed, industry leading strategic capabilities, to realise the benefits of a simplified and reusable IT estate. In adopting industry standards and best practices, this will increase product launch agility, operational resilience and provide rich configurable functionality and services, to enable our member propositions.
Who we're looking for
The Security Squad is at the core of Nationwide’s existence, delivering security outcomes to further improve our security posture, address our risks and support innovation. This squad combines business users, project professionals, security architects and IT experts within one team delivering change directly to support the IT security solutions into the Society We are engaged with the business domain (Squads and CoEs) leaders in redefining and maturing the security vision for our commercial proposition, products and customer engagement to embrace 21st century challenges and opportunities of digital technologies, shifting demographics and changing threat landscape. The right individual will be able to make a real difference to the security strategy, technology strategy and roadmap. Our security solutions need to allow our colleagues and members to operate safe in the knowledge that we are putting their security at top of our agenda. This is increasingly important and requires a Technology Leader who can determine and direct activities using the latest security technologies and platforms to deliver organisational and member benefit.
What you'll be doing
We need somebody with:•Strong leadership and organisational skills •Strong stakeholder management skills•Experience of setting a compelling vision and communicating it to stakeholders at all levels•Proven experience in building, leading and inspiring technical teams and making decisions through periods of ambiguity•Experience across a range of development, operational and change methodologies; and the processes and tools which support these practices (e.g. Agile / DevOps)•A successful track record of interpreting external drivers and aligning with an organisational architectural/technical strategy to translate into technical solutions and priorities is essential•Strong knowledge of Enterprise Cyber Security Architecture policies, standards principles, controls and frameworks•Strong knowledge and experience implementing and maintaining main stream cyber, enterprise and engineering security solutions across the security spectrum from a variety of vendor•Strong knowledge of architecting security controls within enterprise architecture domainsIdeally, you also have: •Knowledge of Financial Services•Ability to determine business and technical requirements and establish the appropriate Security Control designs as necessary•Practical experience reviewing Enterprise Architecture designs and enhancing security solutions against company standards and industry best practice.•Developing and implementing enterprise security architecture technology roadmaps•Strong knowledge of security architecture frameworks as well as enterprise architecture standards and best practices (NIST highly desired)•Experience designing and architecting security solutions, frameworks, automation and orchestration to secure infrastructure and applications.•Strong knowledge of cloud deployment models and integration methodologies•Experience of working across a broad range of technical domains; infrastructure, application, data and security.•Strong hands on and operational skills
