Job description

We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated individual to join our team. We support an application that drives fact-based decision making at Nationwide, using data from multiple sources. The team already provide training, consultancy and solutions to our customer base and we are looking for a Business Intelligence Specialist to enhance our in-house reporting and analytics capability.

Who we're looking for

You’ll be passionate about data management and understand the importance of a robust metamodel and data integrity across integrated tools. It’s important that you’re an organised individual who’s good at prioritising conflicting demands in a constantly changing environment. You’ll also be a confident communicator who can explain complex ideas about data clearly and have the ability to influence a wide range of stakeholders.

As a minimum requirement, you'll have:

• Experience of analysing data held in relational databases
• Advanced Microsoft Excel Skills
• Previously worked with business intelligence tools such as Qlikview, Microsoft Power BI or SSRS
• Demonstrable experience of performing data reconciliations and resolving data conflicts

It would be nice if you also had:

• Previous experience of Enterprise Architecture tooling
• The ability to carry out basic programming using SQL and/or XML

What you'll be doing

As a Business Intelligence Specialist, you will be working as part of a small team responsible for the day to day running of a cloud-hosted Application called Enterprise One. It’s a critical tool with fast growing demand across our risk, resilience and technology communities.
You will be:
• Providing Business Intelligence solutions to our stakeholders using the data in Enterprise One
• Supporting the activity to ensure the data within Enterprise One is maintained and understood
• Getting involved in the configuration of the tool (if this interests you)

This is an exciting time to join the team; we are helping Nationwide to achieve its goals around reducing the cost of change and improving our complex IT estate.

The extras you'll get

If you put a lot in, it’s only fair you should get a lot out. So, if you help us do the right thing for our members, we’ll help further your career with us.

As part of our team you’ll get:

• Access to training to help you progress and develop your technical skills and career
• Pension scheme where if you pay in 7% we’ll top it up to 23%
• Life assurance worth 8x your salary
• 24 days’ holiday plus bank holidays
• The ability to 'buy’ up to 10 days more holiday
• Flexible benefits scheme giving you access to discount vouchers at various retail outlets
• Access to an annual performance related bonus scheme

Why work for us?

Our people’s success isn’t based on how long they spend at their desk. While you’ll have contracted hours, we offer a flexible environment. That might be working from home, logging on from other offices across the UK, or working part time or compressed hours. We want to know how you like to work. And if we forget to ask, please tell us. We promise it won’t affect your chances at all. Remove if flexible working isn’t possible, for example in branches or contact centres.

There are all sorts of benefits, including:
• a personal pension (most people put in 7% of their salary which we’ll top up by a further 16%)
• up to two days of paid volunteering a year
• family-friendly benefits to make life easier for parents and carers
• 25 days holiday with the ability to 'buy’ up to 10 days more holiday
• Access to an annual performance related bonus scheme
