As a Data Centre Technician, you will be part of a small friendly and supportive team who are responsible for maintaining the Mechanical and Electrical (M&E) services in a modern Data Centre.

Working within this critical environment you will be required to initially train and then be able to demonstrate competency in the operation and maintenance of all the installed Mechanical and Electrical services.

The daily role will be to carry out planned preventative maintenance tasks to satisfy service level agreements including statutory compliance.

You will work closely with our IT colleagues to maintain Data Centre uptime, resilience and Member confidence.

What you’ll be doing

Completing daily plantroom checks of the Mechanical and Electrical systems and equipment, recognising and escalating any concerns or issues is an important part of our proactive maintenance programme.

Carrying out Planned Preventative Maintenance tasks in a timely and professional manner to help maintain business-critical Mechanical and Electrical asset reliability.

Participating in the call out rota at the frequency of 1 week in 3 on call.

Embrace the training provided around critical environments management and working towards Appointed Person qualification including high and low voltage systems (HV & LV).

About you

The successful candidate will be a time served apprentice having an electrotechnical qualification equal to NVQ level 3 diploma.

Relevant Building Services Engineering experience, Critical Environments would be advantageous.

You must hold a clean licence and be able to obtain CRB security clearance for working within the financial industry.

Ideally with some working knowledge of:

  • Air conditioning systems
  • Heating systems
  • Backup generator systems
  • Uninterruptable power supplies (UPS)
  • Building management systems (BMS)
  • Energy management systems (EMS)
  • LV/HV distributions networks
  • Mechanical services
  • L8 awareness
  • Fire suppression and monitoring systems
  • Security and access control systems
