  • We're happy to consider flexible working approaches for this role

As we continue to grow our Current Account, Credit Card and Personal Loan portfolios, we need to evolve and expand the talented and experienced team that manage the products to support the increasing business needs.

Current Account is core to Nationwide’s member centric strategy whilst Credit Cards and Personal Loans play a significant role in our ‘just for member’ service offering. We’ve grown strongly over recent years whilst continuing to maintain peer group beating customer satisfaction. With more new products and propositions on the agenda, there has never been a more exciting time to be involved in Banking and Savings.

This role is within the Strategy, Pricing and Performance Insight Team which makes up part of the Proposition and Engagement community. As a community, we’re responsible for building and maintaining Nationwide’s brand and reputation both internally and externally. As an insight team, we’re responsible for providing our key stakeholders with analysis on customer, market and product portfolio performance as well as supporting strategic objectives through the development of data solutions.

Your success isn’t based on how long you spend at your desk. You’ll have contracted hours, but we’re always happy to support flexible working wherever we can. That might mean working from home or different Nationwide offices or agreeing a working pattern to help you balance work and life. We will always strive to find a way that works for everyone.

If we receive a high volume of relevant applications, we may close the advert earlier than the advertised date, so please apply as soon as you can.

What you’ll be doing

You’ll be responsible for supporting key initiatives and will help drive the insights that will enable us to meet and exceed our business targets. You will be working with our internal customers to understand their analytical requirements and using SAS to develop solutions which drive the strategy of the business.  This includes developing an understanding of the portfolio dynamics and the customer base.

The data you gather, the insights you generate and the solutions you develop along the way will prove invaluable, not only to our immediate stakeholders but to colleagues right across the business.

About you

You will have a high level of numeracy skills and an inquisitive analytical mind. You’ll have SAS or SQL experience and the enthusiasm and aptitude to draw insight from a variety of different data sources. You’ll understand Financial Services and have a sound knowledge of the Financial Services market.

You’ll need to:

  • Be able to demonstrate the ability to interpret and correlate a wide range of business performance measures and present information to a senior audience in a logical and understandable way.
  • Have excellent communication skills and be good at building relationships across all levels.
  • Have excellent planning and time management skills, enabling you to work within tight deadlines whilst also maintaining high standards, attention to detail and ensuring timely delivery of multiple pieces of work.
  • Be numerate with a logical mind set and be imaginative in problem solving with the ability to investigate business issues and draw conclusions.
  • Ideally have knowledge of Data Analysis tools and Data Manipulation.
  • Have experience using Base SAS or Enterprise Guide and proficient in use of Macros and SQL

We’re also interested in who you are as a person. Why? Because our membership is made up of so many different kinds of people, so we want our employees to be just as diverse. We’d love to hear about:

  • Your values, and what makes you who you are
  • How you’d make a difference to our members in this role

We know applying for jobs can sometimes feel like you’re sending an application into a black hole. We review each application individually. So, it’s a good idea to call out your most relevant experience on your application to give yourself the best chance.

The extras you’ll get

There are all sorts of employee benefits available at Nationwide, including:

  • A personal pension – if you put in 7% of your salary, we’ll top up by a further 16%
  • Up to 2 days of paid volunteering a year
  • Life assurance worth 8x your salary
  • A great selection of additional benefits through our salary sacrifice scheme
  • Access to an annual performance related bonus
