You will work collaboratively with delivery teams and Digital Chief Product Owners as well as other risk partnering and control function teams. The role holder will help Missions and other areas of the Society understand, interpret and embed risk and control policies by working with various stakeholders to understand their processes and change initiatives, interpret risk and control requirements and provide consultancy and advice.

You will understand what the business wants to do, and your support and challenge will enable senior stakeholders to make the right decisions, deliver initiatives safely and help deliver good member outcomes.

Due to COVID-19 the way we are operating as an organisation is changing. As we try to navigate the varying and unprecedented landscape we are continuing to work on how and where our teams work during this time. As a result, we are flexible on location, and whilst this role will involve working remotely to begin with, as things begin to adapt further there will be occasional travel to Swindon and/or London.

What you’ll be doing

  • Partner effectively with Home and Dreams mission and business stakeholders to maintain an awareness of digital industry, corporate and Society 'change activity' which may give rise to operational risk events.
  • Provide risk advice and support the presentation of formal risk assessments/ committee papers to promote appropriate risk management and the delivery of fair customer outcomes and good experience for members.
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues across the Chief Controls Office and across missions to appropriately identify, assess, manage, monitor and review all the key risks and controls in the development, delivery and management of digital products and services.
  • You’ll need to be prepared to show flexibility and work with momentum. We’re looking for collaborators who can deliver at pace and can listen and absorb quickly, but someone who’s also able to challenge effectively to drive the right outcomes.

  • Support loss event management, investigation and reporting.
  • The ability to navigate an operational risk and control environment collaborating with areas such as security, data and technology, whilst understanding what this means for our members and the delivery of fair outcomes.
  • Undertake analysis of horizon risk intelligence, monitor existing risks, assess new emerging risks and control effectiveness using corporate risk management systems to provide insightful reports to executive management, support the production of control declarations and committees in line with Group risk expectations.
  • Maintain an awareness of the scope of all internal Nationwide developments and their impact to the business area.
  • Proactive analysis of KRIs and control/outcomes testing results, working with the business to develop effective actions plans
