We are looking for a Risk Partnering Consultant no a 12 Month Fixed Term Contract (FTC), working in a specialist risk team supporting the Bereavement and Times of Need processes within the Moments that Matter mission.

Our Risk Partnering team provides first line risk management consultancy to the Moments that Matter mission, working with business stakeholders supporting the Bereavement and Times of Need processes.

We’re looking for someone with a good knowledge of risk and control practices to join our team, with relevant experience of the following:

  • Supporting tactical and strategic change activity
  • controls design, development and/or testing
  • large- or small-scale remediation activities
  • risk governance or enterprise risk management.

What you’ll be doing

You’ll provide Risk Partnering advice, oversight and challenge on operational, conduct and compliance risk within change and sometimes BAU or remediation activities, supporting the decision makers in acknowledging the risks they take on behalf of Members and the Society. Responsibilities include:

  • Working as part of the Risk Partnering team supporting change activity on the Bereavement and Times of Need processes, you’ll be working collaboratively with colleagues to appropriately identify, assess, manage, monitor and review all the key risks
  • Providing risk advice and present formal risk assessments / committee papers to promote the delivery of fair outcomes and good experience for members
  • Assessing residual risks and impacts through control effectiveness using corporate risk management systems to provide insightful reports to executive management and committees in line with Group risk expectations
  • Maintenance and improvement of our BAU risk and control profile
  • Working collaboratively with key stakeholders to maintain an awareness of industry, corporate and community risks
  • Driving local risk governance to ensure that stakeholders understand and are managing their risks
  • Ensuring incidents are assessed, reported and analysed promptly in line with Group Risk expectations

About you

As a minimum requirement you’ll have:

  • Experience in risk and/or control practices, with an ability to practically apply this knowledge in appropriate situations
  • Proven experience of building strong working relationships with key stakeholders where you’ve successfully communicated complex information both verbally and in writing
  • Good influencing skills and the ability to develop strong working relationships with key business area stakeholders
  • Extensive experience of analysing and interpreting complex information rapidly from a diverse range of internal and external sources
  • A sound knowledge of key regulations (FCA/PRA) and regulatory expectations
  • Strong planning skills, able to prioritise and manage your own workload – developing trust and credibility by delivering to agreed deadlines
  • The ability to act decisively, objectively and maintain independence whilst also knowing when to escalate to senior staff for support and validation.

Ideally, you’ll have:

  • Experience of working within change and/or remediation activities
  • A good knowledge of our change management approach.
