As a Case Owner, you will play a vital part in our mortgage application journey. You will work as part of a team to support the processing of buy-to-let mortgage application from the point of submission, right up to completion. You will liaise directly with mortgage intermediaries, landlords & solicitors to ensure all information is available in order to progress an application.

The role is based in The Mortgage Works – New Business department. TMW is a subsidiary of Nationwide specialising in Buy-To-Let mortgage applications and we therefore play a vital part in meeting our Landlords needs.

This is a permanent position, on a full time 35 hour contract to be worked between 8am & 8pm depending on business requirements.  

Your success isn’t based on how long you spend at your desk. You’ll have contracted hours, but we’re always happy to support flexible working wherever we can. That might mean working from home or different Nationwide offices or agreeing a working pattern to help you balance work and life. We will always strive to find a way that works for

What you’ll be doing

From assessing case requirements to ensuring a case is ready for completion and funds to be released, the caseowner role can be extremely varied but also very rewarding.

You will be required to make decisions on the viability of documents provided to ensure this satisfies the case requirement. This will be through the assessment of income documents, bank statements and identification documents in line with our responsible lending policy.

If something is not quite right, you will liaise directly with the broker/solicitor to ensure a resolution is met. Therefore, communicating and delivering a message in a clear and concise way is essential to ensure the smooth progression of an application.

Case Owners will consider each case on its individual merits, evidencing logical thinking and assessment of information to quickly and confidently reach a decision on whether a mortgage will be offered to a customer. This may be outside of standard process but within Nationwide’s framework/ risk appetite

Through their daily workload management, the Case Owners will be expected to identify and raise any trends or areas of improvement that would improve the end to end customer journey. This may involve their support and input to changes to processes/policies and impact all areas of mortgage operations, within Product Operations.

About you

We are looking for a dynamic person able to work as part of a team as well as an individual. Ideally you will have previous mortgage processing experience and be able to liaise with solicitors, brokers and customers while having the passion and desire to produce a high quality of work in as fast paced environment.

As a minimum requirement you’ll:

  • Have a good understanding of the mortgage application process and of the financial service industry
  • Have excellent communication skills both verbal and written, through multiple channels e.g. telephone, email, webchat
  • Demonstrate a clear member focus, effectively building relationships with internal and external customers, providing appropriate updates on progress to deliver excellent levels of service.
  • Proactive and empowered to make decisions within a framework.
  • Effective time management and ability to manage personal workload
