Responsible for the delivery of governance, compliance and secretarial services to the Trustee board of Nationwide Pension Fund (the Fund), including acting as Secretary to the Fund.

What you’ll be doing

 

  • Act as Secretary to the Nationwide Pension Fund through its Trustee board, committees and sub-committees, ensuring the effective governance and operation including the oversight of Trustee papers and meeting packs.
  • Interpreting pension matters and provide updates and advice to the Board and ensuring, where relevant, their implementation. Ensure all the Trustee Directors are aware or their duties and responsibilities, are kept up to date with legislative developments and relevant training. Overseeing the timely appointment and retirement of all the member nominated Trustee directors in accordance with the Regulatory and Fund regulations. Compare both internal and external best practice with that of competitors to seek improvements.
  • Responsible for the effective governance of the Fund and its risk management framework, including the documentation and implementation of control processes. Oversight of all statutory records and returns, monitoring for accuracy and timely submission, including payment of levies. The safekeeping and maintenance of all scheme documents and records and the update of all the Trustee registers and the Trustee online governance system.
  • Supporting and influencing the development of the Fund’s business and strategics plans and policies and monitoring their implementation.
  • Act as the lead contact with all the advisers appointed by the NPF Trustee board, facilitating regular reviews of all advisers, as well as maintaining strong and positive relationships.

Oversight of the production of the annual report & accounts and the popular report for members; and the delivery of the triennial actuarial valuation within statutory deadlines.

About you

 

  • Graduate with further relevant business qualification, e.g. Pensions Management Institute (APMI)
  • Significant pensions experience gained in a similar role, including a strong understanding of current pensions legislation and the regulatory regime
  • Extensive knowledge of occupational pensions and best practice relating to the running of pension schemes

  • Clear thinker and communicator, both verbally and in writing.
  • Excellent analytical skills.
  • Tact and diplomacy.
  • Excellent organisational skills
