As the subject matter expert in Data Quality solutions, you will be responsible for providing technical leadership and expertise with a particular focus on data quality automation including all aspects of data discovery and profiling, data quality architecture and design, data corruption detection and isolation, data quality resolution management and reporting.

Your expertise in the implementation of data quality assurance logic in data processing pipelines and your ability to lead the development of re-usable data quality components as code, will enable us to create efficiency and drive value for millions of Nationwide members every day.

What you’ll be doing

Working in collaboration with data and analytical engineers and other members of the product team, you will be responsible for designing, building and executing practical, compliant, scalable and reusable data quality solutions that we can be used to drive optimal business and customer outcomes, whilst maintaining the required commercial and strategic focus as well as architectural alignment.

You will be accountable for specific data quality activities within your product area, including many of the following: leading the definition, implementation and review of Data Quality (DQ) scorecards and other data quality solutions; identifying improvements to the technical architecture of data quality solutions, including optimal use of tools, and leading implementation of improvements; identifying data quality issues and managing and overseeing Data Quality Enhancement plans and actions.

You will be responsible for understanding the change landscape in your product area, supporting your team in aligning to the data quality management strategy and escalating and raising risks where they are unable to.

You will be expected to maintain a good understanding of the latest developments in the field of Data Governance and Data Quality Management including best practice, technology, models and frameworks and relevant regulation and legislation from external bodies.

You will play a key role in developing data quality capability across our Data Safeguarding & Compliance Centre of Excellence, and for managing a small team of people, ensuring that each team member has a development plan which accurately describes development needs aligned to goals of the team and their personal development.

About you

You need to be able to demonstrate the following core capabilities:

  • Expert in the latest Data Quality Management tools and techniques (both On Premise and in the Cloud), including technical experience in the design and hands-on implementation of data quality solutions as code, as well as experience leading engagement with the business to use data quality solutions to drive value and improvement
  • Experience leading the definition and rollout of effective, auditable data quality management frameworks for Data Engineering as well as Cloud implementations at scale
  • Good communication and stakeholder management skills, including being able to communicate difficult, technical concepts to a business audience
  • Experience in systems architecture and programming would be useful
  • Experience of using data quality management technologies such as data discovery, profiling, quality management, data quality trigger event flow notifications - particularly in Data Engineering and Cloud platforms
  • Experience of managing small teams, including the responsibility for career development and performance management
  • Implementing data quality management best practices and guiding data engineering and cloud engineering teams on the direction to follow
  • Hands-on ability to build proof of concepts to test new ideas and technologies
