Engineering Manager - Infrastructure

Engineering Manager - Infrastructure

  • Location(s): UK Wide
  • Salary: Competitive
  • Contract Type: Permanent
  • Ref: R00TR00349
  • Closing Date: 13 May 2021
  • We're happy to consider flexible working approaches for this role

We are looking for someone to manage a team that support, design and develop mortgage systems for The Mortgage Works, the “buy to let” Specialist Lender of Nationwide Building Society. You’ll be part of a cross-functional agile team, working in a flexible and relaxed environment.

As well as supporting and enhancing the legacy applications for the department, you will also be involved in evolving our digital channels, modernising our applications and processes, and ensuring our applications and platforms are resilient.

We are growing the team to meet increased demand for change to mortgage systems to leverage business opportunities in the Buy to Let area of the business. We need someone who’s always looking to drive continuous improvements and promote best practice in the team. You should be someone who wants to learn from colleagues, be self-sufficient, be confident to share knowledge and coach others. We need a manager who can look after a team of multi-disciplined Engineers at all levels of experience and seniority.

Initially the role will be infrastructure-focused, so you should be suitably experienced in managing teams of Engineers responsible for provisioning and configuring servers, packaging and deploying solutions and assisting with code management and CICD pipelines. You should be able to demonstrate knowledge of infrastructure (both on-prem and Cloud) platforms and associated tools. However, we do expect our Engineering managers to operate and manage engineers across software, test and infrastructure disciplines so there will be opportunities to cross skill. For us, it’s not just about having the right technical background, you need to have an open mind, be able to work collaboratively and be driven to learn and succeed.  At Nationwide we openly put our 15 million members at the centre of every decision we make as a business. Every role, no matter what it’s doing, is member focused.

Your success is not based on how long you spend at your desk. You’ll have contracted hours, but we’re always happy to support flexible working wherever we can. That might mean working from home or different Nationwide offices or agreeing a working pattern to help you balance work and life. We will always strive to find a way that works for everyone.
