The CICD Platform Team are on a mission to deliver a cutting-edge DevOps platform for Nationwide. This is a unique opportunity for a Senior DevOps Engineer to join a highly skilled, cross-functional team and build a best-in-class data platform.

This is an initiative is the early stages, so the role is perfect for those who:

  • Love working on greenfield projects and are comfortable establishing the foundations for others to build on, with the opportunity to influence technology choices and future direction
  • Are pragmatic in their decision making and will implement what’s best for the job, always doing what’s right by our members
  • Understand that there isn’t a ‘one size’ fits all approach to DevOps. What may have worked for past problems may not be a practical approach for this one
  • Are eager to technically lead and stay hands on with technology, so they can continue to innovate, learn and create
  • Are passionate about solving complex DevOps problems, building real-time DevOps pipelines and working with CI/CD technology such as Jenkins, Ansible, Terraform, GitHub, Artifactory and others
  • You can adopt the principles of SRE, and describe how this enables a truly resilient and scalable service
  • You have experience of adopting Agile methodologies in the way you work.

What you’ll be doing

As a valued member of the CICD Platform Team you’ll:

  • Coach and collaborate with a diverse team to establish and evolve our data capabilities and help to embed best practice
  • Design, build and operate a cloud native real-time DevOps platform using modern event-driven architectures
  • Bring a high level of motivation and enthusiasm to the team, always looking for ways to expand your own skill set and searching for ways to do things better and quicker

About you

We are looking for the following skills and experience:

  • You have built systems from scratch, defining the architecture and being responsible for delivery throughout the Software Development Lifecycle
  • You understand and have experience of building DevOps tooling solutions and CICD Pipelines using technologies like GitHub, Jenkins, Artifactory, Harness, Ansible, Terraform, ELK
  • Have experience of building and automating systems on cloud platforms, preferably AWS, and containerization technologies like Kubernetes (e.g. EKS)
  • A broad understanding of different data capabilities whether that be; stream processing, event sourcing, machine learning, data science, big data, BI or analytics
  • Are a pro with accreditation the following disciplines; Cloud, DevOps
  • Be a technical innovator with a curious mindset and a thirst for knowledge and be able to demonstrate a drive for continual improvement
  • Be a team player who enjoys and thrives on working collaboratively with different teams
  • Engage with and articulate your decisions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
