- We're happy to consider flexible working approaches for this role
We have an exciting React Native Engineer opportunity within Future Platform at Nationwide. Future Platform started as a greenfield project and it is growing rapidly. We are looking for people who are happy to take ownership, enjoy solving complex problems and pioneer new ideas. We are also looking for people that are open to learn new technologies, not afraid to experiment and passionate about building scalable systems.
This is a unique opportunity to step into a dynamic start-up environment within Nationwide, combined with the security and benefits of working for a company that puts its members first. We’re a small but very crucial part of Nationwide Building Society. This is a unique set up which provides us with the stability that many other start-ups lack.
We believe we can lead the way to a quicker, leaner, and more competitive Nationwide, so that we can continue to provide solutions that make a difference to our 15 million members. Our mission is to provide next generation highly scalable and cost-effective banking products that will fulfil new range of customer needs. The Future Platform Team are busy developing a cloud-native banking ecosystem that will reshape the way traditional banking applications are implemented.
Now that we’ve launched our MVP, we’re busy developing the technical capability and product features that will enable new product increments, release value and maximise learning.
The last year has taught many of us that ‘how' we do our jobs is much more important than 'where' we do them from. That’s why Nationwide is an early adopter of enabling teams to locate for their day.
Many of us are still working fully remote, but for those that would like to embrace a hybrid working pattern, can also work from our state-of-the-art Post Building based in Holborn, London.
We want to be as flexible as possible as long as the job gets done. Work is something we do, not somewhere we go. We’ll be led by the work, empowered to make our own choices so we can work our best and respect the choices others make.
From time to time, we organise team building activities and social events to celebrate key milestones. We would love you to be part of those, experience for yourself and develop a great bond with the team.
If we receive a high volume of relevant applications, we may close the advert earlier than the advertised date, so please apply as soon as you can.
What you’ll be doing
Day-to-day you’ll be exploiting your experience of delivering first-class solutions in an Agile environment. You’ll help drive continuous improvements and promote best practices in your team through your actions and behaviours. With the understanding of the end-to-end process from a technical perspective, you will work closely with your peer engineers and Lead engineer, helping to deliver solutions that meet their requirements.
We want you to nurture and value proactive habits and to develop contacts and relationships, so things are done faster and more efficiently. We’ll expect you to get stuck in and have a go, knowing that sometimes to fail fast is to learn fast.
