We have an exciting opportunity to lead our Data Privacy Team following the introduction of the General Data Protection Regulation. We are looking for a motivated, highly knowledgeable individual who embraces a challenge and has a desire to drive learning across the team and the wider organisation.

As a line manager of privacy experts, the role will provide the successful candidate with an opportunity to advise on a wide range of complex issues whilst developing the capabilities of an increasingly more important function.

You will work closely with the Senior Manager for Data Privacy and Incidents Management to ensure Nationwide maintains its compliance under the Data Protection Act 2018.

Who we're looking for

For this role, as a minimum you will need to:
• Demonstrate a detailed knowledge and understanding of the General Data Protection Regulation and Data Protection Acts with an ability to apply that knowledge in a wide range of business scenarios
• Have significant experience of leading a team of data privacy professionals
• Have a good understanding of the data protection regulatory landscape and industry best practice
• Demonstrate a genuine desire and aptitude to develop a career with a leading financial services player, and a willingness to be a key part of shaping a successful team
• Have experience coaching, mentoring and developing junior subject matter experts
• Build and maintain good relationships with a range of key stakeholders at different levels in the business
• Have excellent written, verbal and influencing skills
• Be a highly motivated and industrious individual capable of working on a combination of different activities

What you'll be doing

Under the guidance of a Senior Manager, you will be responsible for the successful delivery and maintenance of our business as usual Data Privacy operations which will include:
• Providing expert advice and support on all data privacy matters across the business, and to third parties
• Keeping abreast of all new and proposed changes to applicable data privacy laws and assessing the impact on the business
• Deputising for the Senior Data Privacy Manager as required
• Oversight of Information Rights requests ensuring that regulatory deadlines are met
• Reviewing Data Privacy Impact Assessments
• Management of a training and awareness programme across the organisation
