Simply brilliant service for our customers

We spoke with Connor, a Customer Representative in our Worthing branch. He shares his satisfaction in helping our customers face to face at a time where banks are disappearing from the high street. Our Branch Promise means that everywhere we have a branch, we promise to still be there until at least the start of 2028.

I'm Connor and I’ve been working for Nationwide for almost two years. I've progressed through several roles in branch, from being in control of ordering money in, sending it out, managing large cash requests, and fixing internal issues, through to resolving complaints and training new colleagues. 

Working at Nationwide has been a life-changing experience for me. It's allowed me to grow both personally and professionally, and I've had the opportunity to meet and work with some amazing people. I’m grateful for the opportunities I have been given and looking forward to pushing for better in my career. The development is great and I'm currently studying for my DipFA, (Diploma for Financial Advisors.) This will help my growth and understanding of the financial services industry. 

Have you helped a customer through a life changing moment? 

A few months ago, I spoke to a couple who were new customers of Nationwide. They were in the process of applying for a mortgage and wanted to know what we could offer. After providing them with the basic information, they used our in branch mortgage calculator to find out how much we could potentially offer. We also talked through home insurance options which is sometimes overlooked when buying a house. They took all the information home to talk through. Being in person helped me understand their needs and so offer solutions that were right for them.

We pride ourselves on simply brilliant service, our Branch Promise means we are then in person when our customers need us.

Supporting customers through life changing moments means I'm making a real impact. Knowing they've left with more than what they came in for makes me feel like I've done my job and some more.  

What does the branch promise mean to you? 

Being present on the high street is vital, our Branch Promise shows that we're committed to our customers. It's increasingly important to customers and their banking needs. 

Would you recommend a career in one of our branches?   

Nationwide has offered me some of the best opportunities, both inside and outside of work. I've developed a better understanding of the financial services industry and what makes us stand out in banking.

I have built some of the best friendships. It's also led me to things I never thought I'd do, including skydiving for a local charity, studying for a diploma to give financial advice, and so much more.

I feel part of a community and that I'm delivering a service that really matters to our customers.
