The impact of our Branch Promise
We know branches are important to our customers. So, everywhere we have a branch, we promise to still be there until at least the start of 2028. There may be circumstances outside of our control that mean we have to close a branch. But we will only do this if we don’t have another workable option.
We know that our customers still value speaking face-to-face, that’s why we have the UKs biggest branch network with more branches than any other banking brand.
We spoke to Chris from our Bolton branch to find out more about his career journey at Natiowide, and what our Branch Promise means.
When did you join Nationwide?
I've worked at Nationwide for over 5 years, most recently as the Branch Manager of our Chorley branch. Prior to this I worked for 3 years in the Bolton branch as a Customer Representative.
I'm responsible for making sure the branch is running efficiently and effectively. We do this by making sure our team members are knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful so that they can make sure our customers get simply brilliant service at every visit.
Why is our Branch Promise important?
Knowing we're here to stay on the high street is important for our existing customers and for new customers. We're there in person when they need us most, now and in the future. With so many banks having closed branches, we offer something unique.
It's also reassuring as a colleague. Nationwide are commited to a strong presence on the high street. That gives me the sense that my place of work is important and here to stay.
I feel this gives our customers a sense of comfort and puts them at ease. They know that we are here for them now and in the future,. We know face to face banking matters, and that's why we have the UK's biggest branch network.
Making an impact
Joining Nationwide was the best career decision I ever made. Nationwide is a great organisation to work.
I've been able to progress my career from Customer Representative to Branch Manager and this would not have been possible without the support of Nationwide. Our Branch Promise also shows Nationwide are commited to a strong presence on the high street. That gives me the sense that my place of work is important and here to stay.
