
Financial reporting & sustainable energy
Anne Obey, Director of Financial Reporting, was recognised within Queen's New Year's Honours list with an OBE, for services to Financial Reporting and Sustainable Energy. Aside from the great work she does within the Finance & Treasury team, Anne has used her finance experience to make a difference on the board of the charity Centre for Sustainable Energy. We caught up with Anne to ask her how she found out and what the charity does.

I joined their board in 2013, having been introduced when Nationwide partnered with an organisation which matches up people in business with charities who are looking for specific experience, and have chaired the board for about three years. It's been a tremendously rewarding experience – I think when you work in a large organisation such as Nationwide, you often forget that you pick up skills and experience which can be really valuable for a small charity, and it's also really interesting to be involved in something completely different.
The vison for the Centre for Sustainable Energy, is 'a world where sustainability is second nature, carbon emissions have been cut to safe levels and fuel poverty has been replaced by energy justice'. They do fantastic work over a whole range of domestic housing energy-related activity, supporting community energy groups and working with local authorities to develop responses to the threat of climate change and the misery of cold homes.
