In 2014 we signed the Armed Forces Covenant - Our commitment to honour the Armed Forces Covenant and support the Armed Forces Community. We recognise the value of serving personnel, both regular and reservists, veterans and military families contribute to Nationwide.
Since 2016 we've held the Gold Award in the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme which is the Ministry of Defence’s highest badge of honour.

Meet some of our veterans and reservists
Clive - Veteran
Clive, A Senior Compliance Manager within the Whistleblowing function spent 32 years in the Army and joined Nationwide in 2019. His military experience has proven to be invaluable in shaping his approach to leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making, allowing him to excel in his current role. Alongside Matt, Clive is the Co-Chair of our Veterans and Reservists Network.

Matt, Senior Risk Manager within Enterprise Data Governance, and Co-Chair of our Veterans and Reservists Network joined in 2025. For 27 days a year, Matt is a part-time Volunteer Reserve (PTVR) with the Royal Air Force, commissioned as a Flying Officer.

Emma, an Engineer in the M365 Workplace team, joined Nationwide in 2023 after 10 years serving in the RAF. She spent her time in the RAF in a variety of roles - ground radio, ground support systems (servers for the Typhoon aircraft), telephony officer and IT support.

Our military network aims to support our veterans and reservists to achieve their full potential during their time with us. For employees with serving family members, the network provides access to advice and support from military and other charity networks.
They also ensure that as a Society, we continue to fulfil our obligations to the Armed Forces Covenant (Gold Award).
