As a mutual we want to provide the very best for our members and colleagues. This means innovation, breaking new ground, testing and learning. At the same time, we take very seriously our responsibility to look after the money, data, livelihoods, entrusted to us. That’s where you come in.

On the Modelling scheme, you’ll help us measure, understand and control risks. You’ll be given the opportunity to use models to represent business systems and run various scenarios to see what could happen if something goes wrong. We can then decide how much of a risk we want to take in different areas, and what could happen if we don't control them correctly.

What you’ll do

Your placements will consist of working in Modelling roles across the business where you will be playing a vital role to help control and manage our risk. You will gain first-hand experience of risk management through applying analytical thinking and logic to a range of exciting projects as well as undertaking day to day risk management duties, ensuring that we make the best decisions for our members. Your ability to build and maintain strong working relationships will be invaluable when collaborating with colleagues in different teams.

Building on your STEM degree (Science, Technology, Engineering or Maths), we’ll work with you to develop your technical & business skills. You’ll be introduced to SAS programming along with other software used to assess risk at Nationwide. You will also gain a vast understanding and insight into the world of Risk and gain an appreciation for the mathematics and other techniques used that make Nationwide the UK’s number one building society.

Words and phrases that describe you: STEM student, ambitious, driven, good communicator, positive, tenacious, solution-focused
