What they say
The TDP is only in its third year, but already we’re seeing some fantastic results
Meet Jessica, our Business Support Consultant for the Technology Development Programme:
Jack Armstrong, from our 2016 intake, is now Security Lead in the Cyber Security Operations Centre. He shares his experience of TDP:
“I work as a Security Lead in the Cyber Security Operations Centre, where we monitor the network investigating and remediating potentially malicious activity. When I was considering applying for a target role to move off the scheme early, the TDP Management was extremely positive.
"The network I built with my peers on the scheme is one I still use on a regular basis, as having contacts across the society is invaluable. The most important learning from the whole scheme for me was the benefit of taking on challenges and constantly trying to move out of my comfort zone.
"My advice would be to keep an open mind about what you want to do, as there might be times you’re in a role that you didn’t plan to be in. In my opinion, this is where some of the best learning opportunities can come from, as you need to adapt and develop a whole new range of skills and competencies that will ultimately make you more employable.
"I’m still at a very early stage in my career, but ideally I would like my next step to be moving into a Management role, preferably within Cyber Security. It’s probably a long way off so I won’t be putting all my eggs in one basket, and I plan to improve and expand my technical skills over the next couple of years to keep my options open.”
He made an internal move from Risk onto the TDP last year.
