Kate (left) and Hannah (right) were on the Apprenticeship scheme last year.Their case studies below show an insight of their time on the scheme last year...

Name:

Kate

What I studied during my apprenticeship:

Level 3 NVQ in Business Administration

Where I worked during my apprenticeship:

Branch and Attraction team in HR

What I’m doing now:

Working as a Brand and Attraction Assistant in the Resourcing Brand and Attraction team

My greatest achievement at Nationwide:

Having the opportunity to shadow Ann Brown, Divisional Director of HR, for a day. I asked Ann if I could shadow her to learn what a ‘day in the life of a divisional director’ was like, and she was more than happy to accommodate. It was a very useful and interesting for me and really gave me the motivation to work hard. Shadowing Ann showed me that hard work can really pay off.

My hardest / most nerve-racking moment:

My first day at Nationwide, I really didn’t know what to expect as I’d never worked in an office environment before.

Where I see myself in five years:

Hopefully still working for Nationwide. I want to keep developing my skills and knowledge, and progress up through the business.

Name:

Hannah

What I studied during my apprenticeship:

Level 3 NVQ in IT User Skills

Where I worked during my apprenticeship:

IT Service Delivery

What I’m doing now:

Working as an Infrastructure Analyst in Network Services. I'm also studying for my Cisco Certified Entry Networking Technician (CCENT) and Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA).

My greatest achievement at Nationwide:

I'd say my greatest achievement was taking on responsibility for the operational management of the Nationwide Now solution. This was a huge task and I was really proud of myself when I took this challenge on.

My hardest / most nerve-racking moment:

Dealing with my first priority one incident alone. Both my manager and our service manager were out of the office and Nationwide Now agents were unable to log in for the best part of four hours, causing over a hundred appointments to be lost. I had operations managers, analysts and heads of emailing me for updates whilst I was chairing a troubleshooting conference bridge!

Where I see myself in five years:

CCNA qualified and hopefully in a managerial role within Networks at Nationwide.
